After taking leave of John and Lauren, we rode along the rural roads of New Jersey, on the route suggested by John last night. We enjoyed a ride through pastoral country scenes, green rolling fields, white-fenced pastures filled with grazing horses, ripening crops, a county fair advertising 4 H events and animal competitions, and roads dotted with abundant farm stands. An enormous contrast to the hectic traffic and high paced energy of Long Island.

We had packed up our belongings and were ready to ride off when a concerned campground neighbor approached shyly asking what our plans were. He said the reason he wanted to speak to us, was because he felt sorry for us and thought we didn’t know what we were doing by giving up our campsite.

We went to Block Island, a short way of reaching Long Island, taking the only ferry of the day at 8:15 a.m.

After a relaxing breakfast with Al and the Berube family we said our goodbyes and received invitations to stay with both Milt and Mary Ann in Williamsburg and Scott in Virginia Beach. [Read more…]

Whenever I go on a trip I can’t motivate myself to pack my bags. I procrastinate instead, inventing unnecessary projects as a way of avoiding the upcoming changes.
Spending two weeks in Cape Cod with my parents and family was relaxing and so enjoyable I didn’t feel like leaving. [Read more…]
